Boise Season Opener 2011-2012!!!

This year's season opener was a good one, like always.  This is the second year we've had it at our house.  We had Chad, Katie, Lexi, Ella & Brady in town, they got in late Friday and Saturday morning began with everyone getting in their Orange and Blue.  After we were all ready we decided to go to the mall to look for a few things.  We walked in like the Boise Mall and got a lot of attention.  Most of it was positive - because Boise didn't play any Utah teams and isn't scheduled to this year so far.  A lot of people asked us where we got our shirts, and people asked us what time the game started and who Boise was playing.

After we went to the mall, we dropped everyone off and Katie and I ran to the store to get game day foods.  Earlier in the week Brett and I went to try to revive our grill outside and found that it just wasn't going to work for us, but we do have a small charcoal grill so we decided to improvise and just use that.  Before Katie and I left for the store, the guys went outside to get it and start prepping it, which was when they found the wasp's nest inside.  Great!  So the guys took care of that issue and we left them to it!

After getting the essential game day stuff, we came home to find that they took care of two wasp's nests while we were gone, but got everything good to go, assuring us that we were safe.  Since the game was JUST about to start, of course I was given the task to watch the grill because the men folk were too preoccupied and anxious.  Boo.  The guys propped the small charcoal grill on the existing grill we have.  It was pretty redneck.  After I started flipping burgers I leaned over to discover there was yet another wasp's nest underneath the existing grill too.  But with all the smoke the charcoal grill was giving off, I think it was keeping the wasps at bay because they really didn't fly around.  Maybe one or two, which sent me inside quickly, but they left me alone.  It's still out there though...nagging at me.

The burgers and hot dogs were ready after the first quarter at and that point the guys were fully invested.  There was a lot of yelling and cheering because Boise kept the lead.  They were happy campers!  But if last year taught them anything, they needed to keep quiet until it was over.

After half time we surprised Chad with a birthday cake because his birthday is coming up soon and we might as well all celebrate it together, right?  I didn't get pictures of it because I was holding it, but it was an awesome cake that Brett ordered.  Blue and orange with a big football on it.  Half time was also time for a breather for the guys, they get pretty into the game and needed to breathe before they passed out.  So why not play a little football in Brady's football helmet?

Brett likes to look demonic sometimes.

Almost there, we have a helmet that fits...but the jersey?  Not so much.

Brett got a little blow up football player that has a hole to throw a football into.  He originally got it for a work project but it didn't end up working out so it just sits, unused at out house until Brady comes over.  We completely forgot about it until half time and Chad went to blowing it back up.  He nearly passed out.

Then it was time for the second half again.  Shane, Riley and Sawyer came over for a little while too and Sawyer enjoyed the entertainment as well:

But we think he was just a little unsure about all the hyper masculine yelling and chest bumping.  Who are these people?

After that it got a little too serious for pictures.  The girls painted their nails orange and blue while the guys sweated out the rest of the game.  Luckily Boise kept the lead and won Georgia 35 to 21.  The predictions had the game a lot closer than that which the guys were pretty happy to prove wrong.  After the game was over they immediately got online to read some of the smack talk, which is just what they do.

Overall it was a good night filled with good food, birthday cake and a winning team.  That's pretty much a perfect night for Brett and Chad.  It was a great start to a season.  Boise doesn't play again for a couple weeks and then they'll play Toledo.  Until then the guys can relax a little.

And now, enjoy some Photo Booth madness that happened the morning of the game:
