Tahoe: Wrapping it up

I'll tell ya, it was pretty depressing knowing that it was our last full day and that we were heading home.  But all good things must come to an end and we had a great time.

So we decided to try out my handy dandy tripod that Brett gifted me for Christmas.  It was new and interesting and there were learning curves but I got it eventually!

And well, dock pictures are a must.

You know what else is a must?

This:
You have to.  You just have to.

Here are some more pics of everyone:

And then Brett decided it was high time he started dancing.  He felt the need to turn on the radio in his phone and of course - Chad and Ella jumped in:

After pictures were taken, there was some discussion of lunch.  People were torn about where they wanted food from so we split off.  Brett, Cindy, and I decided to try The Red Hut since it was new to us - it hadn't been down the street the last time we were in Tahoe.  Everyone else headed to McDonalds.

I have to say - if you're ever in Tahoe - you need to stop by the Red Hut for breakfast.  And lunch too.  Brett got a ham and cheese sandwich and it was the best any of us sampled...perhaps ever.  Their lunch was so delicious we made a plan to eat breakfast there the next morning too.

We discussed different plans of what to do on our last full day - we all ended up just soaking up as much of Tahoe as we could.  Us adult folk decided to go out one last time and enjoy the night life.  Brett was hit on repeatedly by a couple of girls.  What can I say, the man really knows how to rock a RVCA shirt.

The next morning we woke up with that heavy feeling we know all too well.  The feeling that you have to go back to work and start paying attention to what time of day it was and set alarms.  Boo!  We reluctantly packed and made sure that we had everything.  We slowly took everything to our separate cars and repeatedly commented on how bad it all sucked.

Then as we were getting together to say our goodbyes Brett decided to do what uncles do best and pestered his niece so much that they took to chasing each other around the parking lot.

After she successfully caught him, it was time to hug and say our goodbyes and head to our home states.  Phil and Cindy had the enviable drive home.  After we said goodbye to Phil and Cindy, Chad and Katie decided to make a pit stop at the Keep Tahoe Blue Environment Center and Store and pick up some souvenirs and we were glad we came with.  We got some great stuff like a Keep Tahoe Blue glass, license plate cover, shirt and bumper sticker.

And then we decided to take a picture in front of the environment center.  I got the tripod out again so we could all be in the picture.  Brady was reluctant about getting out of the van, he'd made himself quite comfortable back there but we were finally able to talk him into it.

Of course, being the great Aunt I am, I cut him out of the picture.  Not on purpose, but it happened.

Then we said goodbye to Chad, Katie and the kids and they headed off.  We decided to stay because we didn't have to really be back until Monday and it was Saturday.  We even tossed the idea around of staying an extra night somewhere but decided against it.

We opted for lunch outside at Heavenly Village and then we shopped at a few more places.  We drove up Ski Run Blvd and saw that there was an open house for a condo so we stopped in and talked to the realtor about what it was like to live in Lake Tahoe and what the area was really like for locals.  Then we decided to accept the inevitable and just head home.  It was a long boring drive filled with disappointed sighs.  But we got home and we were glad we had another day to decompress and mentally prepare for real life.

Overall this trip to Tahoe was awesome - and it was decided that it must happen again next year.  No talk of vacations elsewhere - the family vacation was going to be Tahoe again and everyone agreed.  So next year around the same time we'll hope to add to the Lake Tahoe memories!
