Vacation 2012: 17 Mile Drive

On our way to Santa Cruz, we decided to take the scenic 17 Mile Drive and we were not disappointed.  While it was a foggy day, it was still beautiful.

There were stops all along the way, along Pebble Beach and through Carmel.

Brett's favorite stop was of course - Pebble Beach Golf Course

We had lunch at the cafe and got to purchase a few souvenirs at the golf shops there.  Brett was a happy guy.

We continued along the drive and stopped at Seal Rock:

A favorite stop for seals to take a nap.  We got to watch them for while.

It was kinda chilly though so we moved on.

We stopped at the famous "Lone Cypress" which is the emblem used at Pebble Beach Golf Course as well.

It was a foggy day but we still got some good shots.

And Brady's always a good model too:

Eventually we made it to a good place to park and enjoy a sandy beach area:

We found a good place to climb and get a great view of the golf course as well.

Brett climbed onto one of the holes for a quick picture.  We only interrupted a golfer's game a little.  We found out that it costs a little over $1000 for nine holes there.

After that we decided to just head to Santa Cruz and get ready for the Boardwalk.

We weren't planning on making another stop but we saw something pretty crazy from the freeway so we did:

Another seal stop - this was a dock that was just COVERED with seals

There must have been over 100 seals just lounging for a quick nap.  One would slip off and another one would just pop back on - climbing over his buddies, making them growl and bark and bite, but it didn't seem to phase the newcomer.  There were plays for dominance by the bigger fellas and a few that would not shut up!  There were little babies and some old haggard ones as well.  It was a fun unscheduled stop!

Next up: Santa Cruz
